Community Kitchen And Food Garden

Our community feeding scheme is the beating heart of Vrygrond, providing thousands of free, nourishing meals daily. It serves as a hub of care and dignity where people facing hardship can count on a meal served with a welcoming smile.

We ensure that no one goes hungry, offering breakfast and lunch to anyone in need, without any criteria attached. Many take food home to feed their families at supper time. Children, staff and volunteers also receive daily meals, and parents collecting their little ones often leave with supper.

Sustained by generous donors and fresh produce from our garden, this vital work transforms ingredients into hope. With your support, we can continue to feed bodies, strengthen families and build a future rooted in compassion and resilience.

Practitioner training and parental workshops are central to our work. By uplifting mothers and equipping them with child development insights, we directly enhance our programme's success. Beyond guidance and counselling, we also offer skills development through sewing, beading, computer training, life skills and a joyful spiritual dance group for stress relief and fun.

We stand alongside parents facing challenges such as substance abuse, while prioritising nutrition, hygiene and safety for the children. Together, we nurture resilience, dignity, and opportunity across our communities.

Work Readiness Skills Training

We create opportunities for young people in Vrygrond and surrounding areas by equipping them with confidence, skills and competitiveness in the job market.

Our IT lab attracts young people to the foundation and encourages them to sign up for computer training. Annually, over 250 students join our computer training programmes, receiving essential digital skills and internet access in a community where technology is scarce. Every term between 60 and 90 students benefit from hands on practice in our lab, where multiple courses run daily.

Beyond technology, we offer training in first aid, life skills, and business know-how, to equip students with practical tools. We help students and community members craft strong CVs and guide them through job applications. We have successfully assisted many community members to find employment.
